Refreshers 2021

Help and contact

Take a look at the most common questions, or contact us if you need something else.

What does ‘dress to impress’ mean?

Everyone loves a chance to dress up for a swanky venue. Saying that, we’re not expecting a dinner jacket or ball gown (though we’d love to see them). At the same time, we don’t really want to see ripped jeans or trainers. We’ll leave it up to you to decide what you feel most comfortable wearing to have a great night.

When is Refreshers?

Your freshers’ fortnight runs from Monday 27 September until Friday 8 September. We’ll be hosting a variety of daytime and evening events every weekday.

Who can come to events?

All new and continuing undergraduate and postgraduate students at Central are welcome at Refreshers. Some events will have limited tickets available on the door for guests accompanied by a Central student.

Will I need to bring ID?

Yes, many evening events will require proof of age either at the door or when buying drinks. You’ll also need your Central campus card for some events.

How do I find an event?

You’ll find the postal address for every venue on the events page. We also give the what3words address for the entrance to each venue. These addresses look like ///funny.brush.mostly and a click can take you to a 3 metre square. Find out more about what3words.

Am I guaranteed entry?

If an event reaches the capacity set to keep people safe, wristband holders will take priority. We’ll do our best to make sure you can get in to any event you’d like to, but can’t promise entry, so get there early.

Why do some events have extra costs?

We might ask for a donation towards running events that don’t require a wristband to help cover our costs. Some events may have a small charge to submit a team. This goes towards the cost of game prizes.

How do I get home after a late night?

We recommend downloading the free Citymapper app to help you plan your way around London. Last trains are usually just after midnight, but many bus services run 24 hours a day. Try not to travel alone late at night and speak to us if you need help or find yourself on your own.

Uber, Bolt and Free Now are examples of minicab booking apps. They are often much cheaper than black cabs, especially with friends.

Never use an unbooked minicab – they are dangerous and illegal.

What if I need help?

Our team of officers will be available at every event, wearing a uniform to be visible. They’re happy to help if anything goes wrong. In an emergency, dial 999.

How will you keep me safe from coronavirus?

We’re asking everyone coming to an evening event to take a lateral flow test beforehand. Some events are also available to join from home, if you’d rather not come on site. We’ve been working with venues to keep you safe and the school have also been kept up to date with our planning.

What if an event is cancelled?

We hope it never comes to it, but will let you know as soon as possible if we need to cancel an event. We’ll then do everything we can to recover our costs and pass these savings back on to you if an event is cancelled by a venue or partner.

Do you have a sponsor?

Yes, this year we’re being sponsored by Domino’s Pizza UK and Ireland Ltd.

Do I need a ticket?

We know moving to university can be expensive, so we’ll be running as many free events as possible. Events hosted in clubs and bars will have door charges, but you can get entry to all events by buying a Refreshers wristband. A wristband will save you money compared to the door charges. Some events require a wristband, as we can’t offer tickets on the door.

How do I get a wristband?

Nice choice. You can order your Refreshers wristband via this website. Visit the tickets page, choose the best package for you and complete payment via PayPal. You don’t need an account, as debit and credit cards are also accepted.

Can I buy a wristband for someone else?

Of course! The same applies to someone buying a wristband for you. Just visit the tickets page, choose a package and complete payment via PayPal. Make sure you use the name and student number of the person you’re buying for, so we know it’s for them.

Will you get more of the package I want?

We may be able to arrange more of the UK tour and world tour packages but can’t confirm this yet. Central merch will also be available to purchase at our swag sales.

What payments do you accept on the door?

If tickets are available on the door, we can take cash, contactless, mobile device payments and most credit and debit cards issued by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, Diners Club, Discover, Maestro, Visa Electron and V pay.

Are finale tickets available to pre-order?

Yes. You can get your freshers’ finale tickets now. Tickets are also available for guests.

How will I know you’ve got my order?

Once you have placed your order successfully we will take you to a page confirming that we’ve got your order and you’re on the list. PayPal will also send you a confirmation email with your unique transaction ID.

If you don’t see this page or receive an email, contact us.

Where do I collect my wristband?

You’ll be able to collect your wristband from our swag sales on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 September. Doesn’t work for you? They’ll also also be available from the first few events, including welcome drinks, the bounce back party and club night. Make sure you bring your Central campus card so we know it’s you.

Where do I collect my merch?

Pre-ordered merch can be collected from our swag sales. We’ll be holding these throughout the fortnight, with the first on Monday 27 September at 4pm. Sizes are limited, so get yours quickly.

Do you offer refunds?

It’s not usually possible to offer a refund except in extreme circumstances. If you think you could qualify, contact us.
